MANILA – After auditioning over 33,000 aspiring housemates, “Pinoy Big Brother” is now gearing up for the re-opening of its famous yellow house next month.

The ABS-CBN program kicked off the auditions for its latest edition last March.

According to a televised teaser on Thursday, the nationwide search for “Pinoy Big Brother: 737” drew 32,673 hopefuls. There were 130 auditionees in the United States, 98 in Japan, 96 in Australia, and 516 via the online screening.

“Pinoy Big Brother,” which is based on the Endemol-owned format that premiered in Netherlands in 1999, has so far produced 12 “big winners” in the Philippines since August 2005.

Apart from the regular editions, which feature housemates 18 years old and above, celebrity and teen editions were also held in the past decade.

Among the past winners are Kim Chiu, James Reid, Ejay Falcon and Melai Cantiveros. Notable former housemates include Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby, Bianca Gonzalez, Jane Oineza, John Prats and Rustom Padilla.

Its latest iteration, which was won by Daniel Matsunaga, marked a first across franchises of “Big Brother” internationally, as it combined adult, teen, and celebrity housemates in one season.

No further details about the 2015 season have been announced.
