She didn’t mean to rain on his parade.
A day after Sol Mercado won his first championship trophy with the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, his longtime celebrtity girlfriend Denise Laurel announced that they have called off their engagement.
“I just want to ask all of you for prayers and suppot… From now on Sol and I are just friends. I am very happy for him and I learned so much from him,” Denise wrote in an Instagram post that has already been deleted.
Denise added that she didn’t want to be tagged on posts that had anything to do with Sol.
Later that evening, Denise posted another message. People have apparently started bothering the basketball player because of her postr.
“I apologize, I didn’t think this through when posting. I just wanted not to hear about him first at this time,” she said.
She also emphasized that Sol did not cheat on her.
“Please respect Sol. He did not cheat on me. He didn’t do anything wrong. We [have] both been trying for a while now. He’s amazing and brought so much into my life. God has something’s planned for us both,” she added.
Denise again emphasized what a wonderful person Sol is.
Denise and Sol got engaged in 2013. Earlier this year, Denise said that they have decided to postpone their wedding to next year because they needed more time to prepare.
Denise denied rumors that there was another woman.
Before the big Instagram announcement, Denise was spotted cheering for Ginebra on Wed night, Oct 19.
The breakup of Denise and Sol is in stark contrast to the fact that another Ginebra player, Mark Caguioa, proposed to his girlfriend just minutes after the team’s much-awaited victory.
