Pinoys sure can sing.
Just look at Rose Fostanes, the 46-year old Filipina caregiver in Tel Aviv, who impressed everyone when she auditioned on X Factor Israel. Her version of the Shirley Bassey hit song “This Is My Life” had everyone cheering for her. And, yes, she got a “yes” from all of the judges.
Her audition vid has just gotten viral; it has over 60,000 shares, 40,000 Likes, and 70,000 comments on Facebook. Composers Ryan Cayabyab and Jim Paredes have even commended her performance via Twitter.
On the other hand, there is Ellona Santiago, who has advanced to The X Factor USA’s Top 16. In fact, she impressed the judges and the audience by opening the show with her version of “Till the World Ends” by Britney Spears. “Wow! That was the best opening. That’s unbelievable. I love you from the beginning till end,” said judge Paulina Rubio, while Kelly Rowland complimented, “Wow! That was so magical, you were so on fire. Singing and and dancing at the same time is so impressive. You are gonna be the one to watch.” Demi Lovato said she was “amazing” while Simon Cowell said that Ellona is “here to win it” and that she is “clearly here to not just win the competition, but to sell records.”
