Some of you may only have heard of Fil-Am drum prodigy Alexey Damian Poblete today. But expect to see her in billboards and international magazines soon.

In the United States, Alexey has built a reputation for being a skillful drummer, especially in the classic rock circles. Her mentor? Oh, just some dude named Eric Singer of this American hard rock band named Kiss.

Her badass status as a timekeeper then caught the attention of TV host Ellen Degeneres, who handpicked her for Gap’s female empowerment drive.

In the video, Alexey showed off her effortless playing, had a one-on-one with Ellen, and even got the chance to teach her a simple beat.

“I want to tour around the world and play drums. Rock, classic rock — like Eric Singer from Kiss, John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, and Neil Peart from Rush,” the only Filipino in the ad told the American host.

Alexey also tells her fellow girls to keep their own beats loud and rad: “Just follow what your heart says and you can achieve it.”

In an interview with The Filipino Channel’s Balitang America, she said meeting DeGeneres in person is a dream come true: “I was nervous because it’s Ellen, and I am a fan of hers so of course, I was like frozen. But I was trying to keep cool.”

Gap also released a clip of Alexey and her awe-inspiring talent, entitled “#heyworld Meet Alexey”.

The world is pleased to meet you, girl!
