It was an overwhelming victory for the noontime show Eat Bulaga! on Saturday as their fanbase went all out for the phenomenal love team of Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza.

It was a huge day for Philippine TV last Sat, Sep 26. Riding on the coattails of AlDub, Eat Bulaga! declared a National Pabebe Wave Day. It’s Showtime, meantime, had a special production for Kapamilya Day: The ANIMversary Kick-Off.

Both shows came out swinging: Showtime featured the hottest Kapamilya loveteams, Pastillas Girl, and other celebrities.

Meanwhile, Eat Bulaga! focused on the magic of the phenomenal AlDub and as well as its veteran hosts and comics.

And now, the numbers are in.

According to the overnight ratings of AGB Nielsen as published on PEP.ph, Eat Bulaga! registered 45.7% in Mega Manila households, while It’s Showtime reached 11.9%. This means, almost half of the couch potatoes in Manila chose to see Alden meet Yaya Dub at Lola Nidora’s mansion.

AGB’s Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) also put EB! by a mile as it garnered 37.2%. It’s Showtime came in at 17.4%.

National ratings from Kantar Media/TNS also echoed those results. Eat Bulaga! finished with 30.8% while It’s Showtime got 22.5%. As PEP.ph points out, this means Eat Bulaga was the second most watched program that day. Maalaala Mo Kaya, which featured the life of The Voice Kids winner Elha Nympha, topped all other shows with 31.9%.

Even online, the Kapamilyas also took a beating. Eat Bulaga‘s #ALDubEBforLOVE clocked in at 25.6 million tweets in 24 hours. #ShowtimeKapamilyaDay only got 6.3 million tweets. With that, #ALDubEBforLOVE now holds the record for most tweets in a day here in the Philippines and in Asia. Currently, the #WorldCup holds the world record.

Stars from the rival channels took to social media to thank their fans for their support. Even news anchor Arnold Clavio wrote an opinion piece on GMA News Online, thanking the AlDub Nation for reigniting the enthusiasm for Philippine TV.

One thing is for sure. Many Filipinos here and abroad were entertained over the weekend. Kudos to both shows!
