These guys have some explaining to do….in the MTRCB office.
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has invited executives of GMA noontime variety show Eat Bulaga to a dialogue.
The agenda? Furor over Senator Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III’s comments on the show’s episode on Sat, Jul 9.
Sotto drew criticism for a rape-related joke he made on live television in the show’s “Juan for All, All for Juan” segment.
When a contestant related how one of her husband’s friends took sexual advantage of her while she was drunk, Sotto implied that it was her fault because she had been drinking alcohol shots.
Newly-appointed MTRCB chair Eugenio Villareal said that they have noticed “concerns raised over social media” regarding Sotto’s remarks.
The regulatory agency invited TAPE Inc. president Antonio Tuviera, senior vice president Malou Choa-Fagar, and Eat Bulaga creative head Jenny Ferre, to an inquiry on Thu, Jul 21,at the MTRCB office in Quezon City.
In 2013, MTRCB also summoned producers of Eat Bulaga and The Ryzza Mae Show producers for showing scenes deemed not apt for children.
