Tomorrow, two weeks after TV host Joey De Leon apologized for his remarks that downplayed depression on live television, his noon-time show Eat Bulaga will air a special “telemovie” episode that will touch on mental health issues.

Inquirer’s Cebu Daily News reported Wednesday that actress Shamaine Buencamino shared a photo of herself with Eat Bulaga hosts Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards with the caption: “Just finished taping for Eat Bulaga’s LOVE IS…to be shown this Oct 21, Saturday. This is an hour-and-a-half special drama that touches on mental illness, specifically clinical depression. Hope you can find time to watch it. #mentalhealthmatters #juliabuencaminoproject.”
The post was later taken down but the actress posted a status that said she was asked to instead post the photo tomorrow.
Shamaine and her husband, actor Nonie Buencamino, have been advocates of mental health awareness since their daughter Julia Buencamino committed suicide in 2015.
In his apology, De Leon said that he hopes his mistake will lead to more conversations about depression. “If there’s something good that can come out of my mistake, it’s that hopefully, this will open the door to more conversations about this issue of depression,” he said in Filipino.
You can catch Eat Bulaga tomorrow at GMA channel 7 from 11:30am to 2:30pm.
