Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes is again denying claims he will be running in the upcoming elections. This comes as Dingdong’s name was included in a list of possible senatorial bets for the Liberal Party.
“I respectfully reiterate that I am not running for any post this 2016,” Dingdong told PEP.ph, hoping to finally settle the score.
While honored to be considered, Dingdong says he is focusing his efforts on his role as National Youth Commission (NYC) commissioner-at-large.
“My term (at the NYC) ends in 2017, and I want to do my duties and serve well until then. There are things we still have to fulfill, which we don’t want to be muddied up by politics … we’re answerable to the Filipino youth,” he told reporters at the press conference of the GMA reality show Starstruck.
He did admit that he was invited by the camp of Sen. Grace Poe to attend the declaration of her presidential bid at the UP Bahay ng Alumni on Wednesday. But the actor declined to join the event.
“Due to my current duties as an appointed official of the National Youth Commission, I have several official youth engagements today that are related to our our ongoing Climate Change advocacy programs, which I am spearheading. Sen. Poe is a friend, and I wish that she be guided by our Almighty God in her journey today,” he said.
Besides, Dingdong is busy with his responsibilities as a husband and first-time father. Dingdong’s wife, Marian Rivera, is pregnant and is due in November.
