That’s refreshing, right? After all, a lot of celebs out there want to enter the political world despite not having the credentials or the right intentions. Not that Dong is one of them. In all fairness, the Kapuso actor has been spearheading programs benefiting the youth ever since 2009, when he established the Yes Pinoy Foundation – and he still hasn’t expressed joining politics.
So what has he done so far? “Oplan Restore Paaralan,” which rebuilt public schools devastated by Ondoy and Pepeng; “Para Paaralan,” which is a roving bus caravan; “EDSA Baby Ako,” which taught today’s young ones the importance of the People Power revolution; “One Chair, One Child,” which aims to provide 3003 chairs for a school damaged by Yolanda.
In case you’re curious about why Dong doesn’t want to join the crazy world pf politics, he told Interaksyon.com that he is satisfied helping out as a private citizen. “Anybody can do what I’m doing,” he said. “It just happens that I’m blessed to have this opportunity to help and respond with urgency as a result of what happened last year. Even as citizens we have to do something also and through campaigns like this, we hope we can also invite people to help in their own small way.”
