Did Vice Ganda win because of vote-buying?

That’s what a lot of people now believe after Jobert Sucaldito revealed through Facebook that the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) sold the Best Actor award to a PMPC member who lobbied on behalf of Vice Ganda.

Jobert admitted that he “commissioned” 22 of the 38 members of the PMPC to give the award to E.R. Ejercito for his performance in Shoot to Kill: Boy Golden so he’s pissed that Vice still won. He added that some of the PMPC members approached him and asked him to lobby for E.R. Ejercito since Joel Torre, the rightful winner, won’t get the award because his camp doesn’t have enough funds to pay the voting members.

According to Jobert, one voting member, Francis Simeon, paid the others so that Vice would win. And although Jobert cashed out more, Vice still won because three PMPC execs – president Fernan de Guzman, vice president Mell Navarro, and board of directors member Roldan Castro – already said yes to Vice winning.

“VICE GANDA’s winning was PAID, at lalaban ako sa isyung ito,” Jobert said.
