Star Magic, the talent management division of ABS-CBN, today said that it was “deeply concerned” over the threats and criticisms hurled at the children of its actors that have appeared on social media.

“These posts are not only irresponsible and unnecessary, but they are also downright heartless and cruel,” it said in an online statement.

“We stand with our artists in calling out these people, who may be liable for violating the law against child abuse (Republic Act 7610) and existing libel laws. We will not hesitate in seeking legal action to make sure these individuals, whose posts have already caused undue hurt and trauma, will learn their lesson,” Star Magic added.

One of Star Magic’s actors, Carlo Aquino, called out a netizen a few days ago for threatening to harm his seven-month-old daughter, Enola Mithi.

“Full-grown adults who make fake accounts to do this. What is happening to this world? How were you raised by your parents? How much are you being paid to do this? Is it worth it?” Aquino asked in Filipino and English in a social media post.

Actors Janella Salvador and Markus Paterson also blasted the critics of their baby, Jude. Paterson even shared screenshots of the harsh comments shared by his son’s bashers in tweets he posted a week ago.

“I’m no stranger to bashing. But come for my son and I will come for you. People like this make me sick, my child isn’t even a year old and you’re making fun of a newborn. Not gonna erase the names, since you’re proud of what you have done,” he said.
