The Darna Funko Pop will soon be flying home to the Philippines.
Avid toy collectors and movie buffs can finally get hold of the toy inspired by the iconic Filipino superhero from August 2 to 4 at Fun Con 2019, a toy event to be held in Glorietta mall in Makati City.
This was announced today by ABS-CBN, the media company producing the new Darna movie.
The Darna Funko Pop was first announced by ABS-CBN last month and was launched during last week’s San Diego Comic-Con. The vinyl figurine was presented to the Filipino-American community at Gaslamp Quarter, the city’s entertainment neighborhood.

The toy’s Manila arrival will come a little less than a month after ABS-CBN announced that up-and-coming actress Jane de Leon will star in the highly-anticipated Darna movie.
De Leon was chosen after actresses Angel Locsin and Liza Soberano backed out from the project due to injuries. The movie will be directed by Goyo: The Boy General director Jerold Tarog, replacing Erik Matti who decided to quit due to creative differences with ABS-CBN.
Darna, created in the 1950s by Mars Ravelo, is the first Filipino superhero to be turned into a Funko Pop collectible. Another Filipino icon, Jollibee, has also been immortalized in a Funko Pop toy which was first sold in July last year. A version with Jollibee clad in a barong, the traditional garb for Filipino men, was also released in time for this year’s Philippine Independence Day celebration in June.
