Claudine Barretto, Piolo Pascual, and Iza Calzado reunited and shared the spotlight, at the screening of the digitally remastered and restored Milan on Aug 17.
Moira Lang, one of Milan’s writers, was also at the red carpet premiere at the UP Cine Adarna.
First released in 2004, Milan is about Lino (Piolo) who falls in love with another woman (Claudine) while he was searching for his wife (Iza).
The romantic Star Cinema film is Piolo and Claudine’s first movie together. The movie was a box office hit, and Piolo and Claudine won top acting awards from FAMAS for their performance.
The UP screening was staged in honor of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). During the event, the 2005 Star Cinema film Dubai was also shown.
ABS-CBN is breathing new life into some of the most memorable Filipino films with its Film Restoration department.
With the successful remastering of classics, such as Himala and Oro Plata Mata, ABS-CBN also hopes to cover the preservation of more recent titles.
“More recent films have some defects that were not important enough to fix during its initial commercial run in theaters or were unnoticeable in a standard definition television broadcast. However, today’s more sophisticated technologies require crisper images and more picture clarity so we need to address these defects as we convert the old SD films in to High-Definition,” said ABS-CBN head of Film Archives Leo Katigbak in a report from Lopez Link.
