The 2017 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival ended yesterday with an awarding ceremony in the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Alberto Monteras II’s Respeto was this year’s Best Film (full-length feature). It also won six other awards including the NETPAC Jury Prize, Audience Choice, and Best Editing.
Respeto is a coming of age film about a young man’s life on the streets and his journey towards making it in Manila’s underground hip-hop subculture.
Winners of the four acting awards went to Noel Comia Jr. of Kiko Boksingero for Best Actor, Angeli Bayani of Bag for Best Actress, Dido de la Paz of Respeto for Best Supporting Actor, and Yayo Aguila of Kiko Boksingero for Best Supporting Actress.
