Sorry fans, but indie synth-pop band Chvrches is not performing in Manila on August 13.
The announcement of the concert’s cancelation appeared today on the Facebook page of Ovation Productions, the show’s producer.
The band said they’re canceling their Manila show “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
“We’d like to apologize to all our fans that had already purchased tickets and we’ll be posting full ticket refund details here very soon,” the announcement said.
The Scottish group was supposed to perform at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City as part of their Love is Dead tour.
Chvrches — composed of Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty — first performed in Manila in November 2014. They returned in February 2016 as the headliner for the GoodVybes music festival.
Their hits include The Mother We Share, Miracle, and Get Out.
As expected, fans were disappointed by the concert’s cancelation.
“Just move it to a smaller venue like a concert hall,” Archie Ramos told the event’s organizer.
“Don’t give us this unforeseen circumstances crap because we deserve to know the whole story. You should have done a survey first before getting them to play here so that you know whether you should get a stadium or a small venue.”

Jenna Cajucom had a similar idea. “If this is due to low ticket sales, Why don’t you just move it to a smaller venue?” she suggested.

A fan using the name Gine’y Pye wrote: “SAAAAAAAAAAAAD! We already bought the tickets and my friend from Cebu and boyfriend from Bacolod already bought their plane tickets for the concert.”

“We need and deserve an explanation other than ‘unforeseen circumstances,'” wrote James Santiago.
