The Miss Universe hype isn’t over just yet.

Mak Tumang, the breakout designer behind Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s astonishing gowns, revealed last night the Filipino-Australian’s supposed third gown for the beauty pageant.

Gray wore only two of Tumang’s creations which were the Ibong Adarna (Adarna bird)-inspired gown in the preliminary competition and the fiery Mayon volcano-inspired evening gown on coronation day.

The third gown Tumang created had never been seen before.

The designer asks in a Facebook post, “Where is the 3rd Gown?” before calling the gown “Perla Oriente” or the Pearl of the Orient Seas.

“Pearl of the Orient Seas is the byname given to our beautiful country, the Philippines. Even our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal referred the country with this sobriquet in his poem: Mi último adiós.

“Aside from the fact that our country is one of the largest producers of pearls, the Philippines is truly a gem! It is beautiful, enchanting and captivating. Indeed a high value and rare pearl!”

His creation is a high-slit sparkling gown with a mix of gold and teal colors. Similar to the other two gowns, the execution gives off a great sense of patriotism.

Tumang’s Facebook post also shows sketches of the gown and a clip of Gray walking in the gown to Ne-Yo’s Sexy Love.

Pageant fans will remember that R&B singer Ne-Yo performed his hit Miss Independent while Gray wore her Mayon-inspired gown on coronation day in Bangkok, Thailand.

The post had over 9,800 likes and 5,900 shares as of this article’s posting. Netizens were amused by the design:

Leoni Galang wrote: “[What an original] and authentic Filipino design. Glad Ms Universe Philippines [is] now wearing Filipino designer gowns. Very proud Filipino here.”

Jvc Kim commended Tumang and hoped that he will get to dress the next Miss Universe Philippines in 2019. “[It] seems that you have many symbolic ideas when it comes to making gowns.”

The gown was an option for Gray to use during one of the pageant activities.
