As everyone knows by now, former beauty queen Janine Tugonon was recently named as one of the calendar models of Nu Muses, a project of Treats magazine founder Steve Shaw and celebrity photographer David Bellemere.
Treats magazine is tagged as “a limited edition fine art print/digital quarterly featuring luxurious and exclusive content” featuring the work of acclaimed photographers, models, and stylists.
For his part, Bellemere has shot photos of supermodels and Hollywood A-listers for magazines like Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle, and Glamour. Get a look at his work here.
Tugonon— who was first runner-up in the Miss Universe 2012 pageant—and 11 other models by a panel of judgess to be a part of the calendar.
ABS-CBN News explained that social media voting was part of the selection process and that the models received $10,000 each. They were then photographed nude by Bellemere at an exclusive location.
Shaw stated, “We are launching Nu Muses at a time when things are highly censored, and restricted: we have pop culture celebrities flashing body parts to get attention and music lyrics that are overly sexualized, but we need to bring back the female form as classic fine art that is highly celebrated verses gratuitous.”
That said, Tugonon is lucky to be one of the Nu Muses — and many people are happy for her.
While there are those who have made nasty comments about Tugonon’s nude shoot, so many more people appreciate its artistic merits.
Bottom line: Tugonon looks good and the shoot was tastefully done by one of the most respected photographers in the industry. What’s not to like?
