Bel-Air rumble: Former beauty queen Aurora Pijuan accuses village chairwoman of corruption

Oh, this is going to be good.

On Sunday, Oct 20, former beauty queen Aurora Pijuan caused a stir when she accused Constancia Lichauco — the chairwoman of Bel-Air, Makati — of corruption. “Pijuan, the lead convenor of the Gising Barangay Movement, charged Constancia Lichauco of graft before the Ombudsman for allegedly spending PHP280,000 for a catering contract that was awarded to her daughter-in-law, the owner of Two Chefs Corp.

Pijuan presented the Ombudsman a disbursement voucher issued by Lichauco’s predecessor, Barangay Captain Victor Gomez Jr., showing that Bel-Air paid only PHP7,500 to La Classica Catering Services for the food served during barangay assembly on Nov 23, 2010,” reports Christine F. Herrera in Manila Standard Today.

Pijuan also added that Lichauco should be “investigated for graft for allegedly misusing PHP540 million in Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).” She claimed that Lichauco made “fake donations” to charitable institutions amounting to as much as PHP1.3 million.

For her part, Lichauco brushed off Pijuan’s allegations as the “mere product of her wild imaginations.” According to the report, Lichauco said she was saddened by Pijuan’s non-stop “demolition job” on her and her family.
