Indie darling Beabadoobee, real name Beatrice Kristi Laus, wears her Pinoy heritage loud and proud — and she’s proven this again by placing the spotlight on her hometown of Iloilo City in the music video for her latest single, Glue Song.

The video features the expansive fields of Iloilo, the sea, the classic Filipino jeepney, and even snapshots of her family home, including her grandmother’s cooking and the presence of her other relatives.

“I’ve never smiled so big in a music video before,” the singer wrote on Twitter. “I wanted to capture how beautiful Iloilo is as I haven’t seen much of it on the internet and I needed that when I was growing up,” Bea added, who moved to the UK when she was three.

The singer also said that the song, which tackles the bliss of being in a relationship, and the video were personal to her.

“A lot of people I love are in this music video, so you guys are seeing a little exclusive snapshot of my life. My lolo (grandfather) planted all those trees in that bit where I was walking around in, my lola’s (grandmother’s) house is where I grew up in and visited every year once I moved to London,” she shared.

Bea, who rose to popularity with her song, Coffee, made her Coachella debut last year and was announced as an opening act for Taylor Swift’s Midnights tour in November.

The Filipino-British singer, who launched her second album, the 2000s pop-rock-flecked Beatopia, told Coconuts Manila in a July interview that her songwriting was heavily influenced by classical OPM (Original Pilipino Music) artists. “I realized that a lot of the music I used to listen to as a child subconsciously seeps into my music without me realizing, and a lot of it is OPM — just classically amazing songwriters,” she said, adding that her love songs are influenced by OPM artists such as APO Hiking Society and the Eraserheads.
