BDO issues a statement regarding the incident involving actor-politician Alfred Vargas’ mom-in-law

On Dec 29, two clients of Banco de Oro Valencia, Quezon City branch got into a cat fight over… a chair.

Nerissa Espiritu, the 64-year-old mother-in-law of actor-politician Alfred Vargas was about to sit on a chair reserved for the elderly when a younger client, 37-year-old Cynthia Huang allegedly bogarted the chair.

They fought over it, with Huang reportedly slapping Espiritu several times. According to a Philippine Star report, “Huang took a piece of acrylic glass that had a leaflet insert and hit Espiritu with it.”

Espiritu suffered minor injuries, and police got involved.

On Wed, Jan 6, Coconuts Manila received a statement from BDO about the incident. It said that the bank was cooperating with the authorities to resolve the matter it deemed confidential.

“It was between two clients and the Bank has responded accordingly to help resolve the issue between them. We have also been cooperating with the proper authorities. As it involves our clients, BDO is treating the matter with confidentiality,” the statement reads.
