This photo of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s son, Sebatian or Baste, and his girlfriend Kate Necesario fitting their outfits for the Jun 30 inauguration was shared on the Twitter page of the government-owned TV network PTV-4. The photo was taken by the Davao Fashion and Design Council.
In a Jun 28 GMA News report, Aztec Barba, president ng Davao Fashion and Design Council, was quoted as saying, “Baste is bata pa so gusto namin medyo young ‘yung approach nung design niya, not that mature. Actually madali siya bihisan kasi maganda naman ‘yung built niya.”
(“Baste is still young so we wanted a different approach to designing his barong. He should not look matured. It’s easy enough to dress him up because he is built well.”)
Barba added: “Si Kate, the details are very subtle din. Hindi ganun ka-exaggerated because it’s a Filipiniana eh. We don’t want her to look mature. We want her to look her age.”

Baste’s barong is made of Mindanao silk, while Kate’s dress is made of piña fabric.
