A group that calls itself Taclob is raising funds for Yolanda survivors by selling bags online.
For now there are two designs: Compassion, a red backpack made of tarpaulin on the outside and lined with pre-loved denim jeans on the inside. It can hold a 13″ Macbook or any standard folder; and Courage, “a multi-functional survival backpack that will equip young children to float” by strapping empty PET bottles on the side of the bag.
Compassion is designed for use by the donor, while Courage is for students. Both bags will be manufactured by communities whose livelihood have been affected by the storm.
Here’s how to participate: For a US$50 donation, you can give a Courage bag stocked with school supplies and art materials to a Yolanda child survivor. For a US$100 donation, you give a Courage bag and get your own Compassion bag. There are many more options, which you can check out on their Indiegogo site.
