“Jump In” is the latest Smart campaign, which encourages the youth to embrace and enjoy life and all its surprises and challenges. Their point is for you to stop hesitating and just do it – just go for it, whatever it is that you want to do! Pursue that dream. Try that new adventure. Approach that cutie. Whatever.
They even have a song and video for the campaign, called – what else – “Jump In,” a collaboration between proud-to-be-Pinoys apl.de.ap and Jessica Sanchez.
The song was composed by Marcus Davis and written by Donna Dimayuga and Jimmo Garcia, while the video was directed by Canada-based Marc Andre Debruyne. The video shows vignettes of different “Jump In” moments: a teenage boy mustering enough guts to ask the girl he likes out, a barkada jumping off a waterfall cliff, plus a boy on a wheelchair playing basketball.
Asked for her own “Jump In” moment, Jessica shared, “I guess my whole life is a ‘Jump In’ story. I was like, ‘You know what? I don’t know how far I’ll get but I’m just gonna do it,’” pertaining to her “American Idol” journey.
On the other hand, apl.de.ap also shared his “Jump In” moment: “I wanted to be a nurse back then, and then I went to college for fashion design. But when I discovered music, I knew that that’s what I wanted to do in my life and I just jumped in all the way and pursued my dreams as a musician.”
As part of the campaign, Smart also has the “Jump In” SIM, a barkada SIM meant for students who want a happening social life, but have to make sure they don’t use up all their allowance on load.
