By now you most probably have seen Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo’s interview with “Les Miserables” star Anne Hathaway.
Early on in the interview, it was already apparent that Anne wasn’t the best interviewee. Ricky asked her about how she managed to lose weight needed for the role, and she declined to answer, saying that she didn’t want to talk about the weight loss.
Everything seemed to be okay, however, after Ricky mentioned his friend Lea Salonga, even showing a text message from the Filipina singer for Anne.
But then Ricky asked a question about how someone like her could identify with someone like Fantine, the character she plays in the movie. “Have you ever experienced to be hungry, to be poor, and you know, just like the character?” to which Anne said, “That’s a very personal question.”
In closing, Ricky asked for a message for Lea from Anne, and the Hollywood actress said, “We’ve already talked about that.”
So Ricky just requested for Anne to personally invite Pinoy viewers to watch the film. Anne answered, “Why don’t you invite them? I think they’d much rather hear it from you.”
Awkward.
