Regine Velasquez loses voice and cuts concert short

The comeback concert of Regine Velasquez last Nov. 16 sure was memorable – she lost her voice and had to cut the concert short. Dubbed “Silver: The 25th Anniversary Concert Special of Regine Velasquez-Alcasid,” it started at 9 p.m., an hour later than scheduled.

According to a report on abs-cbnnews.com, Asia’s Songbird expressed her apprehensions after she sang the song “Dadalhin,” saying that she didn’t know what to do because nothing was coming out. Regine added that she thought the audience would boo her and leave, but she was touched that they even cheered her on.

The concert didn’t end that soon, however. Guest performers Lani Misalucha, Janno Gibbs and her husband Ogie Alcasid still went onstage and performed. There were some impromptu numbers by entertainers from the audience, such as gay impersonator Anton Diva, who sang “On the Wings of Love” with Regine, and comedians Vice Ganda and John Lapus who cracked some jokes.

“You deserve more than this,” said Regine during the concert. This is why there will be a “take 2” concert for free at the same venue, the SM Mall of Asia Arena when she gets better.
