Yup, Kapamilya actress Nikki Gil is once again doing theater. After “Legally Blonde” and “Sweet Charity,” Nikki returns to theater with the musical comedy “They’re Playing Our Song.” Scheduled for a run at the RCBC Plaza in Makati City on February 2013, the 9 Works Theatrical production will also star Cheri Gil and Lorenz Martinez.
Directed by Robbie Guevarra, the musical tells the story of composer Vernon and his lyricist Sonia, who end up living happily ever after, after some trials, of course.
Several productions of “They’re Playing Our Song” had been staged in Manila. In 2000, Lea Salonga and Singaporean actor Adrian Pang starred in the Singapore Repertory Theater production. There were also one that starred Leah Navarro and Bernardo Bernardo, and then another that had Christopher de Leon and Juno Henares.
Can’t wait to see this modern version.
