Another reality search for singers??? Yes!
TV5’s “Kanta Pilipinas” will premiere this Saturday, Feb. 9, at 9 p.m. in search of the country’s next big singing superstar.
TV5, together with audition judges Vehnee Saturno, Jamie Rivera, Jimmy Antiporda, Erickson Raymundo of Cornerstone, Maristel Fernandez, Bituin Escalante and Arnee Hidalgo, has scoured Metro Manila, Cagayan de oro, Davao, Baguio, Iloilo and Batangas City, and now they have found 24 finalists who all have a chance to be the winner of the show and take home P1 million and bag a recording contract.

Just some of the hopefuls are: 5az1 (a 5-piece boyband with regular performances in “Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman), Nicole and Carlo David (children of jazz singer Mon David), and Jacob Gayanelo (a model and blogger).
According to Perci Intalan, TV5 head of creative and entertainment production, what sets “Kanta Pilipinas” apart from other reality talent competitions is its “Kanta Mo, Kwento Mo, Kapatid” segment, which shares the inspiring stories of the contestants. Watch out for Allan Gonzales, a blind man who didn’t let this stop him from pursuing a musical career. There is also Ricky Deloviar, whose girlfriend died before he auditioned for “Kanta Pilipinas.”
Another exciting thing about the show is that two big names were enlisted as judges: Ryan Cayabyab and Lani Misalucha, according to Interaksyon.
