Sebastian Castro is someone very exciting. Undoubtedly good-looking, the Pinoy-at-heart American has been doing showbizzy stuff the last couple of years here. He walked for the Cosmo Bash, for example, and then has appeared in some movies and TV shows as well. Recently, he got a lot of people’s attention when he released the music video for his song called “Bubble.” It surprised everyone not just because apart from being a model and an actor, he as it turns out is also a singer and a songwriter, but also because the song and the video are both controversial. The song is about losing one’s gay virginity, while its video features topless men, gay encounters, and a lot of gyrating.
Soon after the video’s release, he also came out.

Coconuts Manila bumped heads with the cute and adorable Internet sensation and here he shares stuff about nudity, taking on straight guy roles, and crushing on a celebrity.
Basing on your music video for “Bubble,” you look like you love flaunting your body. Do you?
No! It’s easy for people to say that because my music video was partially sexy. But my music video wasn’t totally sexy. I made something that happened to have a sexual theme because it was about losing my gay virginity but even in making that I didn’t want to just be sexy. I just wanted to make something that could be sexual, real, and wasn’t afraid to laugh at itself.
So you’re totally okay with nudity?
I have been drawing nudes since I was a teenager. I went to art school, Savannah College of Art and Design, so I am used to seeing naked bodies for several hours at a time for one sitting. And for me it doesn’t always represent sex, so if you ask me if I am comfortable taking off my shirt it doesn’t mean anything sexual or conservative or something moral.
What is the craziest fan moment you’ve had so far?
I went inside the McDonald’s in Eastwood and most of the people inside were gay guys and they were screaming really, really loud. I didn’t expect that.
Who do you want to follow the career path of?
I think I just go for the projects I want the most and hit the ground running for what I want the most and if I like it I can do it in a moment. So right now I would love to do something light-hearted like comedy.
Apart from singing, you also act. Are you willing to do straight guy roles? Do you think you’ll do a good job?
If I was a straight guy, the idea of doing a gay role would be so obvious – it is just the art of acting. I am sure believability will be challenging but I am more than ready to take that challenge on. For my first indie movie, it was a straight role. Not a problem. They are boobs; they don’t scare me.
Who is your celebrity crush?
I tell people I have only one crush – in ABS-CBN.
