“American Idol” recently aired the first part of its Sudden Death Rounds, and among those that performed was Fil-Am Adriana Latonio. Clad in a pretty little red dress, the talented singer did a version of Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way” — pretty brave choice, actually, considering it’s from The Aretha.
Fortunately for her, she did good — well, at least according to the judges.
Keith Urban said “Now the night has started!” while Nicki Minaj, who asked the “little ladybug” if she’s Pinay, complimented her by saying that she did not see an ounce of fear in Adriana and that she “commands the stage the second she walks out.”
The rest of the judges also had good words for our kababayan. Randy Jackson exclaimed, “This girl is born to do it” and said that she “is a pro” while Mariah Carey, on the other hand, praised her for coming through with her version of the song. “A plus,” she said.
Adriana, as expected, was selected to move forward as a finalist. Yay! Can’t wait to see more from the token Fil-Am contestant!
