Showbiz talent managers do not want to take any chances amid the Duterte administration’s crackdown against illegal drugs.
Viva Artists Agency released a statement on Tue, Sep 6 to say that two of their top talents, James Reid and Anne Curtis, tested negative for illegal drugs.
According to the statement, Viva decided to release the result of their drug test to “address unfounded rumors” from tabloids and radio reports linking Anne and James to the use of illegal drugs.
The drug test was done on Sat, Sep 3.
“VAA, Ms. Curtis and Mr. Reid, are aware of and give importance to the influence of artists in society as role models to the youth. Thus, VAA and its artists have taken the initiative to publicize the results to inform the public of the truth and to show support for the government’s campaign against illegal use of drugs,” the statement said.
Last week, Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, also announced that it supervised a voluntary drug test on 40 of its artists, including Jake Cuenca, Enrique Gil, and Diego Loyzaga.
Patrick Garcia, Baron Geisler, and Luis Manzano also undergone drug tests and revealed the result on their personal social media accounts.
By the way things are going, Anne and James won’t be the last celebrities to make public the results of their drug test.
