“You’ll get by with a smile,” goes the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) classic by the Eraserheads. And a smile is exactly what this new video of the song brings to viewers.
Resorts World Manila shared a teaser video yesterday of the Ang Huling El Bimbo (The Last El Bimbo) cast rehearsing the 90s tune With a Smile, which is one of the songs featured in the upcoming jukebox musical.
The play will revolve around a story of friendship told (or sang, rather) through 90s hits of the iconic Pinoy rock band, the Eraserheads, Resorts World Manila shared in its website.
For those who don’t know why this is a big deal, the Eraserheads is basically *the* Filipino rock band of the 90s. Their songs were anthems for Gen-Xers but continue to be loved by millennials today. Their other hits include Ang Huling El Bimbo (which the play is named after), Pare Ko, Alapaap, and Toyang.
Details of the plot have not been revealed but Facebook users were thrilled to see the new teaser.
J.M. Oleo wrote: “Oh my god, this is exciting! Can’t wait to watch the show!”
Von Christopher Mendoza tagged a friend saying: “Can you feel it now? This is gonna be so exciting!”
Emmanuel Abayon Sangco shared the trailer with a friend and said: “look at them sing”
Ross Cuyugan couldn’t help but feel ecstatic over the teaser: “Oh my G!!! Are you going to let this slide???”
The musical will run from July 20 to Aug 26 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila. It’s written by playwright Dingdong Novenario and directed by Dexter Santos.
