Change is coming…even for puppets.
GMA-7 hasn’t announced the official airing date of its rebooted telefantasya, Encantadia, but fans are expecting it to start sometime next month. The series stars Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and Sanya Lopez.
In the original run of the series, fans will remember that one beloved characted was Imaw, who served as the chief adviser to the diwatas (fairies). For those who don’t know him yet: Imaw is a puppet. He is the “Yoda” in the series.
In an Instagram post, Encantadia director Mark Reyes shared that Imaw has gotten a makeover. Reyes explained in the caption: ’11 years ago. We had a traditional hand and cable puppet in #Encantadia named Imaw. Now, 11 years after, the cables are gone and is now replaced by radio controlled servos. He’s now a fully animatronic head puppet worn by a performance artist.”
We can’t say we totally love Imaw’s new look. Maybe we just have to get used to this change.
