We’d say AlDub’s first date went down as successful first dates usually do: A little awkward, a little kilig, with a big chance of a second date.
Alden arrived at their mansion aboard a white Mercedes sedan — followed by a van full of food, including lola’s request of chicharon. He was polite and respectful. And based on the lolas’ reaction to him, Alden seems to have impressed them so.
Lola Nidora set a few rules for Maine and Alden’s first date at the mansion: No touch, and they were to keep a distance of one foot between them at all times.
AlDub tried their best to follow these rules but Maine choking on a slice of cake showed the couple touching hands.
Several things made the date super kilig: subuan, some picture and selfie-taking, and Maine and Alden actually talking to each other!
But if you ask us, the build up felt bigger than the main event, and that’s thanks to the the Lola Nidora’s sisters Tidora and Tinidora.
They were hilarious and tolerant, and they teased the couple like fond grandparents rooting for their grandchildren.
Our favorite part? The impromptu game of Trip to Jerusalem. As in: They were trying to figure out the seating arrangement in the dining room and ended up playing a fun game of Trip to Jerusalem.
The date ended abruptly with Lola Nidora proclaiming she was going to take her siesta already. After Alden had left, Maine screamed, “It must be love!” Nobody really understood what she said, ending everything in an anti-climatic fashion.
But with the 19 million tweets it garnered, nobody seemed to notice.
