The Guinness World Records announced on Twitter yesterday that the most used hashtag in a single day was #AlDubEBTamangPanahon– the hashtag used in one of the events featuring onscreen tandem Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.

Guinness’ announcement was made to coincide with Hashtag Day, which celebrates the invention of the now ubiquitous symbol by product designer Chris Messina. He came up with the idea in 2007, making this year the hashtag’s 11th birthday.

The hashtag #AlDubEBTamangPanahon, was used in a benefit concert in 2015 titled Tamang Panahon (The Right Time). The concert was held at the height of Richards and Mendoza’s loveteam’s popularity, which legions of fans nicknamed AlDub.

AlDub is a portmanteau of Richards’ first name and Dub, short for Dubsmash. Mendoza, who started out as a content creator on Facebook, became a viral star for making videos using the once popular app.

“DYK (Did you know), the most used hashtag in 24 hours on @Twitter was #AlDubEBTamangPanahon,” Guinness World Records wrote on its official Twitter account.

The tweet went on to state that over 40million people from Oct. 24 to 25, 2015 used the hashtag, which included fans who watched the concert live at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan and those who watched it on television.

with 40,706,392 uses from 24 Oct – 25 Oct 2015, inspired by a benefit concert and celebrity couple AlDub from the Philippines TV show @EatBulaga #hashtagday

It also retweeted a photo from Eat Bulaga, the variety show which made the tandem popular. The photo showed several celebrities posing with Richards and Mendoza.

AlDub is one of the country’s most popular loveteams, although it has gone on hiatus, with Richards and Mendoza currently pursuing solo careers.
