It was reported earlier this month that Alden Richards rented a private plane to visit Maine Mendoza in Boracay while she was celebrating her 21st birthday.
A number of netizens and fans criticized the 24-year-old actor for this gesture, saying it seemed scripted and “showbiz,” as they say.
But Alden, during a press conference for Neozep on Wed, Mar 16, said that his actions for Maine are done out of his own free will.
“Hindi pilit, walang nag-plant, walang nagsabi,” he told members of the press.
No, Alden and Maine are not yet a couple as they are still getting to know each other and enjoying each other’s company. They’re not rushing into things, Alden added, since they’ve only known each other for eight months, when the two first started appearing on “Eat Bulaga’s” Kalyeserye.
“Maybe it’s just, the moment is not yet there,” Alden said on what’s keeping them from turning reel to real.
But, he added: “Maine’s very special. I’m very happy whenever I am with her.”
Alden said he and Maine will work on a movie together later this year.
