On Mon, Jul 11, Yes! Magazine held a press conference at Quezon City’s Luxent Hotel to reveal the cover of its annual 100 Most Beautiful Stars special issue for 2016.
We weren’t surprised that Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza topped the annual list.
The on-screen duo joined the ranks of Judy Ann Santos, Marian Rivera, and Anne Curtis, among others, who have apppeared on the cover of the previous editions of the magazine.
The timing is just perfect for the two.
Not only are Alden and Maine celebrating their first anniversary as a love team this July, their movie, Imagine You and Me, is also opening in theaters later this week.
“Honestly, nagulat po ako (Honestly, I was shocked),” Maine said when asked what she felt upon learning she will be on the cover of this year’s 100 Most Beautiful Stars issue.
“I’ve been part of Yes’ 100 Most Beautiful Stars for six years. And lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila na dream ko, sana, one day, maging cover naman ako. So this is the perfect time to be on the cover, syempre. Ito na ang tamang panahon,” added Alden.
Yes! Magazine Jo-Ann Maglipon explained the decision to put Alden and Maine on the cover: “I don’t think there’s anyway you can say that they are not the most beautiful. At this time, I think they are the hottest and the most sought-after.”
So what makes a person beautiful?
“For me, being beautiful is not about the physical appearance at all. For me, it’s what is on the inside. If you are a good person, if you have genuine intentions. That’s the definition of beautiful for me. The physical attributes are only secondary,” Maine said.
“For me, you’re a beautiful person if you value the relationships you have with people,” Alden said.
