Multi-awarded actor Albert Martinez credited his late wife, Liezl Martinez, for his successful career and happy home life.
Hours after the news of Liezl’s passing broke, Martinez posted a photo of him and his wife on Instagram with the accompanying caption: “She was my wife, my partner, my best friend. We grew up together. We raised a family together.”
“She was a wonderful mother who devoted her entire life to our children. I have three wonderful kids because of her.”
“She was a supportive wife, who stood beside me in every endeavor, big or small. I am grateful to her. I owe everything to her. I have a successful career and happy home life because of my wife Liezl,” he said.
The two met back in the set of the 1984 film Ibulong Mo Sa Puso. Martinez and Liezl soon became a couple, but their relationship was heavily opposed by the latter’s mother, Amalia Fuentes.
A cousin of actor Aga Muhlach, Liezl rose to fame during the 1970s. She passed away on Saturday morning after a long battle with cancer.
