ABS-CBN’s Sunday noontime show ASAP has scratched Aiza Seguerra’s name off its catalog of artists, allegedly due to the ongoing network war.
Aiza, who is part of the “Sessionistas” segment, revealed it wasn’t clear why ASAP wanted him out of the show. He only found out about the leave of absence from his manager, Annabelle Borja, after the ASAP stint in London.
Despite feeling hurt about the incident, Aiza decided to respect the management’s decision.
“Being in this business long enough, siyempre di na ako magpapa-plastik…Pero it’s a directive galing sa management that I have to respect… After all, this is a business, they have to protect their business,” Aiza told PEP.ph.
“Wala akong sama ng loob sa management mismo,” he added.
Aiza believes ABS-CBN officials got anxious about her participation in the GMA TV show The Ryzza Mae Show Presents… Princess In The Palace. At first, Aiza thought there would not be any problems because ASAP and The Ryzza Mae Show are not direct competitors.
“We’re not contract artists, we’re not exclusive artists… sa hierarchy ng mga artista, medyo kami ang nadi-displace kapag may mga ganitong issues,” he said.
TAPE Entertainment, which will be producing The Ryzza Mae Show…, is the same company responsible for Aiza’s rise to fame from “Little Miss Philippines”, to being a mainstay in the noontime show Eat Bulaga!.
Aiza said, he just cannot say ‘no’ to TAPE, which also produces Eat Bulaga!
“Number one, I’m a working actor, I need work. Kung ano ang may mag-offer na trabaho sa akin, and TAPE is TAPE, hinding-hindi ko hihindian ‘yan,” he said.
Aiza also believes AlDub, the “accidental loveteam” of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (aka Yaya Dub), could be one of the reasons ABS-CBN stood firm on their decision about his suspension.
“I think with the AlDub issue, medyo fierce ngayon. So, yeah, I think, they are just protecting themselves. And ang sabi lang nila, they they don’t want to set a precedent na gawin din ito ng ibang artists sa kanila,” he shared.
In the end, Aiza is optimistic ABS-CBN bosses would lift the decision as soon as issues die down.
“Yun lang, siguro right now, everything is just sensitive. So maybe, kapag lumipas yun, hopefully, it’s better… Let’s see, let’s see,” he said.
