Backpackers, trekkers, cavers, and anyone else looking to enjoy the sights of the mountainous town of Sagada, rejoice: the northern municipality in the Mountain Province is ready to accept fully vaccinated visitors again after closing its doors to tourists in 2020.

The Department of Tourism announced that Sagada has begun accepting visitor registrations on its online portal, Umali Kayo, after first announcing its launch in November.

The website has also published its updated guidelines for tourists planning to head up north:

  1. A minimum overnight stay in a DOT and local government-certified accommodation establishment, booked two days before arriving;
  2. Completed registration at the Umali Kayo portal at least two days before arrival;
  3. A vaccination card or certificate indicating full vaccination. Tourists aged 11 and below may be exempted from this requirement, provided that they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent or guardian;
  4. Present any of the following: a negative rapid antigen test result performed 1 day prior and its official receipt, performed at a medical government office or a hospital; a negative RT-PCR swab result from a Department of Health-certified laboratory taken 48 hours before arrival; or a negative RT-PCR saliva test result from the Philippine Red Cross taken 48 hours before arrival.

Tourists may also opt to undergo a rapid antigen test at the Pegeo border for PHP960.

Visitors must present the QR confirmation code from the Umali Kayo portal upon arriving at the border, as well as their vaccination card and their negative test result.

After undergoing triage, tourists must head to the Tourism Hub for an orientation, where they will receive a tourist kit before they can check in.
