It’s not every day that you hear about an employer gifting her employee a piece of jewelry but actress and host Kris Aquino wants to let everyone know that she’s no ordinary boss.
Yesterday, the “Queen of All Media” shared an Instagram video showing how she gave her children’s nanny, Bincai Luntayao, a heart-shaped Cartier necklace while they were on vacation in Japan.
According to Aquino’s post, she used to own the necklace but decided to give it away after their interpreter told her that “a heart with a hole in the middle will never give a single woman lasting love according to a Japanese cultural belief.”
“I’ve had this Cartier necklace for several years — and double purpose, to show Bincai our love and gratitude and to make sure she stays with us for many more years,” Aquino wrote on her caption.
Aquino also shared how dedicated Luntayao was to her family.
“It was her discipline that made [my eldest son] Josh lose 140lbs (63.5 kilograms),” wrote Aquino.
“On her weekends off when Raquel calls her because my BP [blood pressure] goes haywire or my allergies act up, she immediately cuts short her rest [day] to take care of me.”
Aquino’s Instagram post has earned positive comments from her followers and now has more than 300,000 views.
Filipinos have always closely watched Aquino’s personal life.
The daughter of the late President Corazon Aquino and Filipino hero Ninoy Aquino, and the sister of former President Noynoy Aquino, she recently figured in a controversy after ranting against Korina Sanchez, a newscaster, and wife of former senator and 2016 presidential candidate Mar Roxas.
She blasted Sanchez for featuring her ex-husband, James Yap, in a positive light in the latter’s TV show.
But Aquino isn’t the only celebrity that’s been giving away pricey presents.
Over the weekend, boxer and Senator Manny Pacquiao fulfilled his promise to a random ice cream vendor when he gifted him a house and lot. That’s in addition to the PHP30,000 (US$57.15) he had already given him.
Both Aquino and Pacquiao have previously been named as one of the country’s top taxpayers–we say keep the gifts coming.
