Actress Iza Calzado, the star of the film The Echo, has tested positive for COVID-19, her manager Noel Ferrer announced in a Facebook post on Saturday.

Ferrer said Calzado “is recovering well as she was aggressively treated for pneumonia and the virus. She can actually breath[e] now without any oxygen assistance.”

Calzado will be tested again to determine if she has fully recovered. Her husband, Ben Wintle, and other people who have come in contact with her have so far not displayed any symptoms.

“She doesn’t know where she contracted the virus from, but it’s best for all of us to take seriously the advice of doctors and health authorities on proper hygiene, physical distancing, quarantine and social responsibility,” Ferrer said.

“Let us continue to pray for the healing of Iza and our brothers and sisters who are most affected by this pandemic,” he added.

Late last week, Calzado announced on her Instagram account that she was being treated for pneumonia, and awaiting the results of her COVID-19 test.

“It’s been a challenging time for me but it cannot compare to the frontliners who have cared for me and to whom I am so grateful,” she wrote in her post. “My heart goes out to everyone in these trying times, especially those who risk their lives every day to care for their loved ones.”

The 37-year-old actress is known for her roles in the television shows EncantadiaNgayon at Kailanman (“Now and Forever”), and A Love to Last.
