Actor Mico Palanca died of as-yet unknown causes yesterday. He was 41.

The Film Academy of the Philippines extended its condolences to Palanca’s family in a Facebook post last night. His former manager Monch Novales also paid tribute to the actor, posting a message on her Instagram account last night that read, “I will miss you miko [sic]! I love you forever.”

Palanca appeared in the ABS-CBN television shows Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay (“I’ve Waited for So Long”), K2BU, and It Might Be You. He also briefly appeared in the long-running show Ang Probinsyano (“The Man from the Province”).

Mico Palanca came from a family of actors. His brother, Bernard Palanca has also appeared in Ang Probinsyano, while their late grandfather, Armando Goyena, was a matinee idol in the 1950s. Mico was also the grandchild of philanthropist Carlos Palanca, Jr., after whom the Philippines’ most prestigious literary prizes, the Palanca Awards for Literature, were named.
