A cappella group Pentatonix coming to Manila in February 2020

Filipino fans of American a cappella group Pentatonix will get the chance to listen to its viral and Grammy Award-winning vocal arrangements live when all its five members come to the Philippines in February next year.

The 2020 concert is part of the group’s world tour and was announced by event organizer Wilbros Live on Facebook yesterday. It will be held at the Araneta Coliseum on February 8, Saturday at 8pm.

Tickets won’t go on sale until Aug. 3, Saturday but Wilbros has released prices. They are as follows:

General Admission – PHP840 (US$16.49)

Upper Box – PHP1,575 (US$30.92)

Lower Box B – PHP3,150 (US$61.84)

Lower Box A – PHP3,675 (US$72.15)

Patron B – PHP5,250 (US$103.07)

Patron A – PHP5,775 (US$113.37)

VIP – PHP6,825 (US$133.99)

All tickets except for General Admission have reserved seating. They will be available on the TicketNet website or through 632-911-5555.

Pentatonix will also visit several cities in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand as part of the tour.

As the group’s name suggests, it is made up of five vocalists: Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee. Sallee was the last to join the group in 2017 when he replaced original member Avi Kaplan.

They are known for their vocal arrangements and mashups of songs, with many blowing up on YouTube where they now have about 16 million followers. Their a capella medley of Daft Punk songs in 2013 now has more than 300 million views.

Pentatonix has won three Grammy Awards, including one for the Daft Punk piece which was given the Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella award in 2015. The group was awarded in the same category in 2016 for their arrangement of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and won Best Country Duo/Group Performance in 2017 for a cover of the song Jolene with Dolly Parton.
