9 things we love about ‘The Voice of the Philippines’

It’s the middle of the week but we sure can’t wait for “The Voice of the Philippines.” We were so excited back when it wasn’t showing yet but ow that we’ve had a taste of it, we’re hooked. Well, so far, at least. We all know how the Blind Auditions are the best part of the show.

Anyway, while counting the minutes till Saturday, we share the reasons why we dig the show so much.

1. Great mix of coaches. There’s the technical Broadway singer (Lea Salonga), internationally famous and “high standards” guy (Apl.de.apl), the one who is into unique voices and artists (Bamboo), and, well, the young one who can make you win coz she has a lot of power-voting fans (Sarah Geronimo).

2. We see a different side of Lea Salonga. The Lea that dances, argues with the others, and even swears.

3. Apl.de.ap has such high standards! We love how he doesn’t turn his chair when we expect him.

4. The judges are cute when they’re fighting over contestants. We like how Apl has placards, how Sarah would serenade them over to her team, or how things could get dirty between Lea and Bamboo, who seem to like the same contestants.

5. There are actually lots of promising singers, like Lee Grane and that old guy with a huge voice and reminds us of Meatloaf.

[[{“type”:”media”,”view_mode”:”media_original”,”fid”:”15682″,”attributes”:{“alt”:””,”class”:”media-image”,”height”:”442″,”style”:”display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;”,”typeof”:”foaf:Image”,”width”:”600″}}]]

6. Bamboo surprisingly has the ears and good taste.

[[{“type”:”media”,”view_mode”:”media_original”,”fid”:”15683″,”attributes”:{“alt”:””,”class”:”media-image”,”height”:”900″,”style”:”display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;”,”typeof”:”foaf:Image”,”width”:”600″}}]]

7. We love it how the coaches get frustrated when they ask a contestant they rejected to sing another song — and regret not turning their chair for them earlier.

8. Love the diversity, not just when it comes to the voice and the genre but also when it comes to looks and… sexual preference! Congrats, Philippines, for being so open. Finally.

9. In all fairness, Sarah’s not that bad when it comes to giving advice. Her observations are actually correct, most of her comments valid, and her tips pretty useful.
