When you realize that the “busy” co-worker next to you is just searching for everyone’s favorite file, “CompanyHolidays2016.doc”, you know what time of year it is. It’s time to plan your end-of-year travel! And we have just the place to get you in the mood for adventure – Shanghai.

(Oh, and we might have a free trip for you too, but we’ll get to that in a bit.)

1. Our very first reason to visit Shanghai right now is weather related, because, not gonna lie, half the fun of leaving the Philippines is getting the chance to wear that sweater stuffed in the back of your closet. In the beginning of autumn, aka right now, Shanghai cools off to a crisp 22 degrees Celsius at midday and the tourist crowds all but disperse.

2. As China’s cultural, economic, financial and technological hub and home to some 24 million people, it’s no exaggeration to say Shanghai has something for everyone. Take a walk on the Bund along the Yangtze riverfront and admire Gothic, Baroque and Romanesque architecture side by side with gleaming skyscrapers. Alternately, explore Yu Yuan Garden in Shanghai’s Old City for some peaceful reflection among centuries-old temples, ponds and greenery. Shanghai is also known for its modern art, trendy bars and stylish restaurant scene.

3. One of the best things to do in Shanghai is enjoy the view, whether that’s people watching along local laneways on ground level or taking a vertical trip into the clouds at the Shanghai World Financial Center (locally dubbed the “bottle opener”) for a view of the city from above.

4. Autumn is also the perfect time to explore the charming towns, forests and lakes surrounding the city. Indeed, some of the most beautiful parts of the country are found just outside Shanghai. Take a day trip to Zhujiajao Water Village, an ancient canal town, or get a breath of fresh forest air at Dongpin National Forest Park, just two hours from the city center.

We could go on and on about all the cool places in Shanghai, but we’ll just let you see for yourself in this snazzy video.
