We don’t know their names yet. We don’t kow what roles they will play. We just know that two Filipino talents passed the screenings for Miss Saigon.
Composer Jean Michael Schönberg confirmed that the two Pinoy talents will join the 2017 staging of the iconic production. They were picked from about 900 hopefuls who went through a grueling 8-day audition.
“The callback for the audition of Miss Saigon was very, very good. We found two brand new people, and that’s very exciting because there are two parts very difficult to cast. But as usual, in the Philippines, best can be expected,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN.
In the original 1989 production of Miss Saigon, a young Lea Salonga conquered the West end with her role as Kim.
Monique Wilson, Isay Alvarez, Rachelle Anne Go, Monique Wilson, and Joana Ampil are familiar Filipino names who joined the iconic production.
On social media, fans cheered for Cris Villonco when she posted pictures of her audtion. However, she emphasized that she just auditioned, and the names of those who got in have not yet been revealed, “I’m just glad and basking in the surrealness of it all that it happened. Thank you to the powers that be for this crazy opportunity. I am truly grateful and for today, will pronounce that I am blessed,” she said.
