The most exciting thing in the world of cheap eating is about to happen this month in Metro Manila. In case you haven’t already, it’s time to save these dates for the five-day World Street Food Congress in BGC from Apr 20-24. There will be stalls manned by 25 food vendors from as many as 10 countries, showcasing dishes from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Thailand, US and the Philippines.
The price of each dish starts at PHP200. From Malaysia, there’s mee siam and assam laksa, both noodle dishes. From Indonesia, there’s ayam taliwang and sate maranggi. From Thailand, hoy tord. From Vietnam, banh xeo and nam bo. These names may make no sense to you now, but just go ahead and follow your stomach. Try them all!
The event, imported from Singapore, is being held in the Philippines for the first time. It has two components — the serious two-day WSF Dialogue and the five-day WSF Jamboree where you can eat to your heart’s delight, which will be set up at 9th Ave cor Federacion Drive.
WSF Congress is at 9th Ave cor Federacion Drive, BGC, Taguig; Apr 20-22 4pm-11pm, Apr 23 12nn-11pm, Apr 24 12nn-9pm. For updates, go to Facebook.
