Man vs Goto Monster: Finish in 45 mins or pay up PHP750

What do people do for fun in Makati? Here’s one: the Goto Monster challenge.

Goto Monster, a Pinoy fastfood restaurant in San Antonio Village, has many kinds of silog on its menu, but its specialty is goto (congee). “Our goto is very special because we serve it with tinapa flakes and salted egg,” says managing partner Jean Hill.

And then there’s the namesake Goto Monster—fortified with with nine toppings: tinapa flakes, tokwa, beef tripe, bagnet, shiitake mushrooms, lumpiang shanghai, toasted garlic, spring onions and salted egg. This dish is upsized, the equivalent of six to 10 servings, and is only available to individuals who are taking on the challenge: Finish the contents of the bowl within 45 minutes or pay PHP750. Those who succeed get a free meal, a souvenir T-shirt and video documentation.

If you’re up for the challenge, call in advance. In the meantime, watch the video below to see how they make the Goto Monster.
