That was fast: Wee Nam Kee reopens just in time for its 5th birthday

A few days after it was reported that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has padlocked all Wee Nam Kee locations in Metro Manila, the Singaporean export reopens just in time for its fifth birthday in the Philippines.

“Wee Nam Kee is celebrating its 5th year of operations in the Philippines, and as a way of thanking all you Singaporean cuisine fanatics, we are launching our PHP299 Unli Hainanese Chicken Promo,” its press statement reads.

From Feb 9-13, dine-in patrons can enjoy unlimited helpings of Wee Nam Kee’s famous roast or steamed Hainanese chicken and Hainanese chicken rice for the given price per person.

Last week, it was reported that the BIR has padlocked all seven Metro Manila branches of Wee Nam Kee for understating its sales in 2013 and 2014 — a violation of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.

It’s good to know that the restaurant has ironed out its BIR issues and is back right on time for its birthday.
