Can putting butter in your coffee really burn fat and give you more energy?

There’s a new dairy sneaking into warm cups of coffee, and it’s neither milk nor cream — it’s butter!

A part of Dave Asprey’s trendy Bulletproof Diet, “bulletproof coffee” has people incorporating two tablespoons of grass-fed butter (like Anchor) and a tablespoon of vegetable oil like coconut or palm into a cup of coffee.

It is believed to give more energy, assist in burning fat, and hold off pangs of hunger. This is something Asprey himself has had a habit of drinking every morning, and as a result, has successfully shed off inches.

Bulletproof coffee is said to have been inspired by the traditional yak butter tea Asprey got to try in Tibet.

Unlike normal coffee that gives you a buzz followed by a crash, bulletproof coffee, because of its healthy fats, won’t make you feel hungry or tired after two hours. It will, in fact, turn you into an Energizer bunny.

In the US where it started trending mid-2014, the reception to the idea has been 50/50. Some remain skeptical, while some health buffs and runners have taken a liking to this rich beverage.

Try and taste it for yourself. If anything, it’d make your coffee taste richer.
